The big wigs at Big Green Egg love adding the word 'Egg' to every piece of marketing....and damned if I'm not starting to do the same thing. It starts off corny, but before you know it, you're asking your grill-master buddy if he's tried the 'Egg-niter' yet? (the best grill flamethrower I've used to date - and I refuse to call it anything other than a flamethrower)
The biggest problem with the Big Green Egg ....accessories...(there, I did it) - is that they're great. Most pitmasters will scoff at new shiny, bluetooth enabled doober-whackies as a waste of time and pocket money. The Eggcessories on offer by BGE however will make your cooking experience easier, faster and more efficient - and when you're crawling out of bed at 3am to impress your friends with Texas short ribs - you want that process to be as easy as possible.
Okay, not every time, because there is a bit of a learning curve to get perfect ribs. But I promise you'll get there quick. I don't know if it's an age thing, but spending 8-12 hours watching your short ribs or brisket get more succulent and divine is a lot more fulfilling than most other things in life.
The amazing thing about the Big Green Egg is that once you've hit your temp, it will really lock in tight and stay perfectly stable for hours. Personally, when I fire up the Egg, I'm doing at least 8 hours - however you can get a charcoal seared steak just as easily by opening the top and cranking the coal. If you're an Aussie BBQ person like me - this is honestly going to change the game for you.
The main thing you need to think about when choosing the perfect EGG package for your needs is - how do I like to cook? For me, I love bringing friends and family together and running a long, low smoke on brisket and beef short ribs. I learned this method of smoking from my time in California, Tennessee and Texas.
